Chicken 65 is one of the South Indian cuisines. It was introduced in 1965 at the famous Buhari restaurant in Chennai. Chicken 65 got its name after the Chicken is cut into 65 pieces and 65 ingredients were used to prepare it. The restaurant also has Chicken 78 that came in 1978, Chicken 82 in 1982, and Chicken 90 that came into use in 1990.

Ingredients of Chicken 65 recipe ➢

  • 250-gram Boneless Chicken
  • Salt according to the taste
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • ½ tablespoon garam masala
  • 2 tablespoons ginger garlic paste
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • 1 tablespoon rice flour
  • 2 tablespoons lemon
  • 4-5 chopped curry leaves (optional)
  • One egg yolk/yogurt
  • 3-4 tablespoon oil
  • ½ tablespoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 2-3 Green Chilies
  • 2-3 dry red chilies
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • 1 tablespoon red chili paste/sauce
  • 2-3 tablespoons water
  • 6-7 coriander leaves


Recipe for Chicken 65

Process 1 ➪

1. Take 250-gram Boneless Chicken in a bowl and cut it into small bite sizes.

2. Now in the Chicken add salt according to your taste, 1 tablespoon red chili powder, 1 tablespoon coriander powder, ½ tablespoon garam masala, 2 tablespoon ginger garlic paste, 2 tablespoon cornflour, 1 tablespoon rice flour, 4-5 chopped curry leaves (optional), and 2 tablespoon lemon mix all the ingredients properly and keep it aside for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

3. Now take one egg yolk blend it well and add that in a marinate chicken mixture instead of egg you can also use yogurt add any one of them but using egg is better as it prevents meat to release juice and becoming hard when fried. Mix it well with your hands and leave it for 15 minutes.

4. Now in a pan heat oil. Check the temperature of the oil by putting one Chicken piece now one by one put other pieces don’t add all together.

5. Fry for 2-3 minutes in a medium flame also keeps stirring in between. When the Chicken will be cooked properly, the bubbles will reduce.

6. Take out Chicken in kitchen tissue and you will notice that it became golden brown and crispy.

7. Now add 1 tablespoon oil, add ½ tablespoon Cumin seeds and let them burst.

8. When you hear a bursting, sound adds 1 tablespoon chopped garlic fry for some time now add 2-3 Green Chilies, 2-3 dry red chilies, 8-10 curry leaves, 1 tablespoon red chili paste/sauce mix everything well and put some amount of water. Cook it well.

9. Add fried chicken pieces to it and stir it well do not overcook.

10. Now turn off the flame Chicken 65 is ready to serve, garnish it with coriander leaves.

    I’ve made this recipe a few times and it’s excellent and its by far my chicken 65 recipe. Although to be fair, it’s the only recipe I’ve tried so far. But it’s so delicious. I even bring some in for co-workers to share and they think I’m a genius. I do different things I skewer my chicken pieces and grill them for that charred look. It is heaven on earth.
