Here in this recipe, we have used vanilla custard powder, but if you don’t have custard powder then you can make custard powder at home and then use it in fruit custard. The custard powder recipe is shown below.

Custard the fine yellow powder is made using milk, sugar, and vanilla essence, the creamy, vanilla-flavored sauce is used in fruit custard and many other desserts.

The custard powder can either be directly bought from the store or can be made easily at home in different ways. In-store custard is available in different flavors like- banana, apple, pineapple, and mango. Here, in this recipe of how to make fruit custard, we have used vanilla custard powder. If you could not find custard powder at home then here is the recipe to make at home.

How to make custard powder

To make custard powder at home take a grinding jar and in that add 1 cup sugar and grind it to make a powder now in that add ½ cup milk powder, ½ cup cornflour, ½ teaspoon vanilla essence grind everything well. The homemade custard powder is ready.


Fruits for Fruit Custard

This recipe requires different sweet seasonal fruits to enhance the taste. You can add banana, pomegranate, mango, and apple.

Better avoid sour fruits like orange, kiwi, grape, pineapple, grapefruit, mandarin, and especially melon as after mixing with milk melon can upset your stomach.

You can also add chopped dry fruits like pistachio, cashew, and almonds.

Ingredients of fruit custard

  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons custard powder
  • 1 apple
  • 1 banana
  • 8-10 pistachios
  • 1 Pomegranate
  • 1 Mango
  • 6-8 cashew


How to prepare fruits ➤

1. Firstly, rinse the fruit.

2. Cut chop them into bite-sized pieces.

3. Refrigerate before adding them.

How to make fruit custard at home ➤

4. Turn on the flame put a pan and add 2 cups milk, add 4 tablespoons sugar turn on the flame medium and let the milk heat. Stir so that the sugar dissolves in it.

5. Now, in a bowl take 2 tablespoons custard powder in that add little milk (warm or at room temperature). Adding warm milk avoids lumps and makes the mixture smooth. Mix it well.

6. Once the milk is heated reduce the flame to low.

7. Now add custard milk little by little don’t pour completely. Stir it to avoid lumps. Again, add custard milk and mix well to avoid stickiness. Add custard milk in 3 different intervals not altogether.

8. Boil milk for 8-10 minutes on low flame. Keep stirring as it continues to boil.

9. Boil till the mixture turns thick.

10.Turn off the flame when you get a thick consistency. Whisk the mixture to get the smooth custard.

11. Cover the custard and let it cool down.

12. Transfer the chilled custard to a mixing bowl add chopped fruits- mango, apple, pomegranate, and banana, add dry fruits-pistachio, cashew, and almonds. Mix again.

13.Cover this and keep it in a refrigerator for 1 hour.

14.The delicious recipe is ready. Serve it chilled.
